Clary Sage Oil is often used to help with conditions such as anxiety and stress.

Method of Extraction

Clary sage oil is typically extracted through a process called steam distillation. In this process, the clary sage plant is placed in a still and subjected to high temperatures. The heat from the steam causes the plant's cell walls to open and release its essential oil. The steam carrying the oil then passes through a cooling system where it condenses into a liquid mixture of water and oil. This mixture is collected in a vessel where the oil, being lighter than water, naturally separates and floats on the surface. The oil is then skimmed off or decanted to be used, while the remaining water, known as hydrosol or floral water, is often used in cosmetics and aromatherapy.
